The International Trading Institute (ITI@SMU) is celebrating its 10th anniversary on 18th October 2018. I am delighted to serve as the founding academic director with a dedicated and committed team since 2008, growing a pipeline of trading talent which will ensure the sustainability of Singapore as a global trading hub.
To commemorate this special milestone, we will be having a celebratory event, inviting business leaders from global trading companies, government officials, academics, alumni, current students, as well as the new wave of innovators who are actively involved in the transformation of the sector to mark this occasion with us.
A key highlight of the event will be the launch of a book entitled Journeys: The Future of Trade. This is a compilation of interviews with industry leaders and stakeholders and aims to provide insights into what tomorrow may hold for the sector. Some excerpts from our industry partners and alumni can be found in the lower sections of the site below. To add further value to the event, I will be moderating a panel segment which will include Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry, together with esteemed panelists from COFCO, ENOC, Luxasia and the JR Group. This session will take us into a discussion on how trade will be transformed and how each of us will have a role to play in this evolution.
I’m looking forward to the celebration and to more exciting years ahead with all our partners.
